Originally known as The Ranch when linked with the cricket team, like many businesses, it faced challenges following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Uncertainty surrounded the future of both the venue and the cricket team for months, with bids as high as £1 million being rejected to ensure cricket continued at this historic ground, where matches have been played since 1870.

 

Fast forward to November 2022, and the future of the club was secured, reopening as

The Club House. The opening night coincided with England playing the USA in the

World Cup, and the overwhelming turnout proved just how much the venue

had been missed—standing room only!

 

In January 2023, we invested in a complete refurbishment of the function room, updating flooring, lighting, and electrics, and installing a sleek modern bar. Now, the function room is the heart of our business, hosting events most weekends, from baby showers to birthday parties—even unique gender reveals, including an airplane reveal!

 

Throughout 2023, we learned that many guests were unaware of our presence, often assuming we were members-only. Addressing this misconception through advertising will be a priority in 2024.

 

By January 2024, it became clear that the bar needed a refresh. We invested in modern furniture, removed a partition wall, and revitalized the space, creating an open, welcoming environment. We also celebrated England's journey to the Euro 2024 finals, and we extend our gratitude to the cricket team for their ongoing support in adjusting schedules and promoting events.

 

Following its reopening as a bar and restaurant, The Clubhouse now welcomes everyone, unlike its predecessor, The Ranch, which was exclusive to members. The need for membership has been removed, making The Clubhouse open to all members of the public.
